The population of Seu d’Urgell (Lleida)a classic in the cities of Cycling Tour in Catalonia With more than 100 years of history of the Catalan event, it will repeat the experience, making its debut as the starting place for the women’s event. The city of more than 12,000 inhabitants has hosted the men’s event on up to 22 occasions, being the starting point on 13 occasions and the finish a total of 9 times.
In 1930, the Seu d’Urgell received for the first time a discharge from Cycling Tour in Catalonia. A loop stage saw the Navarrese cyclist Mariano Canardo (seven-time winner of the Volta, a historic record for the event), the stage was scored. An experience repeated by the city, with 2022 being the last time the town organized the start of one of the stages of the race. In 2010 the last time the town was the arrival of one of the stages, whose victory went to the Catalan Xavi Tondo.
