Dani Fernandez (Alcázar de San Juan, Ciudad Real, 1991) is a singer and composer who has just released his third album, ‘La Jauría’. But along with music, another of his great passions is Atlético de Madrid. And he attends MD in low heat, as he cooks his new songs, but with passion, the same passion that the red and white team arouses in him.
Your latest album is La Jauría. Why the title?
“I started working on this album with a compositional, artistic block, I found myself exposed to comments. Upon reflection, I realized that many people, more than ever with social networks, were exposed to comments. We are more exposed, and with this album I wanted people to reflect on it.”
And you think you can get it?
“I think we are more aware of it, people are no longer afraid to go to the psychologist. I don’t think I will succeed, but we are more aware that we should be more careful with comments and what we say to others. The other day watching a soccer game, when it was over I saw that I had become part of that pack. “We should all reflect.”
What personal and professional moment are you in?
“In good times. Personally, at my best moment, I am very happy, I feel complete, I am not missing anyone. In music you never know when you are at your best, because everything changes so quickly. You have doubts, it might be a form of self-protection.”
On Valentine’s Day, he did something special…
“I thought what Miravia proposed to me was funny. I got married recently and I thought it was cool since they would get married on the street, then they would be with a partner in a romantic moment. It’s fun to bring the newlyweds along and bring their journey to life. “We had a great time.”
The new single is ‘Everything changes’, but if there’s one thing that won’t change, it’s his passion for Atleti.
“That will not change. At first, I thought it was annoying that many people talk about Atleti, but people who feel the colors, a passion like me since I was young with my Atleti, people will understand. As a child you are more of a fan and you are having more problems, then not so much but you still feel for Atleti. It has to do with values, what your parents teach you. We know a lot of people by the music they listen to and I think the club you feel as well.”
How do you see the team?
“We hit a little slump. We’re strong, on a good streak, but it’s impossible to always stay like this. The bad results will serve to correct. I stick to the good things I’ve seen. It looks worse in defense, guys injuries, changes, but we have a lot of quality up front. I’ll stick with Griezmann, when he comes on he changes the game. I feel lucky to see Atleti like this, even if sometimes we have bad games. It is always said that Atleti del Cholo are tough, that they stop the game, but with the ball, even a friend from Madrid told me how we played it. We have Riquelme and Lino, a band with a lot of future. And hopefully let’s go to the Cup final.”
Which Atlético players are you related to?
“With Riquelme, who loves music, he was at a concert with his mother and brother, with Llorente we interacted, but most importantly, Koke.”
Which footballer would you choose to make a duo?
“Coke. He is learning to play the guitar. It will be funny, as the captain of Atleti that he is and I carry Atleti as my flag, it will be incredible, brutal.
Koke needs to be renewed, right?
“Of course. My dad told me the other day that he’s not renewing. He’s a key part of the team, when he’s not there it’s noticeable. I hope there’s no problem, I haven’t talked to him yet but if anyone wants to Atleti is Koke. There is a cruel love between him and the club and they will do everything to stay together. “They will have an agreement.”
We are talking about the player with the most appearances in the club’s history.
“He is a youth player who brought Atleti to the top. He is always the lung of Atleti, in the Europa League, in the Champions finals, in the Leagues… You cannot criticize him because he gives everything on the field, he runs the most. .We are interested to have him on our team”.
You know what it’s like to play at the Metropolitano, how does it feel?
“I’ve played twice, at the Cadena 100 concert and another time at a private concert, in the middle of the field. Just to tell you that I saw my father crying… It’s just a dream since I was a child. I was sad not to sing at the Calderón, which is my stadium, where I went with my father, but to sing at the Metropolitano is priceless. Hopefully in some tour we will pass there.”
His music plays in previews at the Metropolitano. Is that because there is a plug?
“I swear I don’t know who plays the songs, but when they send me videos and it plays… The other day at Femenino. I don’t know who it is, but it’s from Atleti and will know how I feel when my song is played there. If I chose who it sounds like, it would be an athletic one, let’s all come together.”
What if they offered you to play at the Bernabéu?
“Well, I don’t see much of myself, really. If it’s for a good cause I won’t refuse but if I have to choose a stadium, I’ll choose the Metropolitano, it’s my home.
