King Philip VI received Thomas Bach in public

The King Philip VI received this Thursday in the audience the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the German Thomas Bachwho traveled to Spain with the Olympic Refuge Commission to sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and the Ministry of Integration, Social Security and Migration.

This audience was also attended by the president of the COE, Alexander WhiteIOC President Advisor Pere Miró, IOC Vice President Juan Antonio Samaranch and two other Spanish members of the organization, Pau Gasol and Marisol Wedding.

Members of the IOC Executive Committee also attended Zarzuela James Macleod and Lana Ali Haddad.

The Olympic Shelter Commission and the refugee Olympic team won the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports last week.

Thanks to the memorandum signed the other day, the sports center for refugees created at the COE’s initiative in Getafe will serve as a model to create similar facilities in other parts of the world. This center was visited in the afternoon by Olympic leaders.

The Royal House recalled in a statement that the IOC “manages the selection of cities to host the Olympic Games every four years”at the time the possibility of Spain filing for the 2030 Winter Games was being debated.

The project revolves around the Pyrenees, a mountain range that has not yet hosted an Olympic competition, although the governments of Catalonia and Aragon have not yet agreed on the distribution of venues and events in each territory.
