Longo Borghini won the duel against Demi Vollering in Flecha Brabanzona

The Italian Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl Trek) prevailed in the ninth edition of the Brabanzone Arrow argued between Lennik and Overijsewith a route of 134.9 kilometers, after the head-to-head at Dutch Demi Vollering which was resolved in the final stretch of the race.


Longo Borghini (Ornavasso, 32 years old), recent winner of Tour of Flanderswon with a time of 3h.26.18, at an average of 39.2 km/hour, over Demi Vollering (SD Worx), who came in 14 seconds behind the Italian, and the Australian Alexandra Manly (Jayco)in 1.06 minutes, giving time to the main platoon.

The transalpine cyclist attacked at 7.6 km from the finish line, making the attempt of the Dutch Demi Vollering to follow him, seeing his rival hopelessly away. Until then, both runners had distinguished themselves closely, starring in race excellence.

With 30 km to go, Longo Borghini and Vollering distanced themselves from the main group and caught all the front runners. With 10 to go, the head-to-head was delivered and, finally, the Italian went strong to cross the finish line as the winner.

Borghini earned his third victory of the season and the 43rd on his record, which includes victories such as two Tour of Flanders, Strade Bianche and Paris Roubaix.

Vollering, for his part, second last year against also Italian Silvia Persicohad to settle again in the same position.
