Britain’s Josh Kerr joins Michael Johnson’s new athletics league

The new athletics league created by sports legend Michael Johnson under the name ‘Grand Slam Track’ now has a second star. This is the British middle distance runner Josh Kerrworld champion of 1,500m and 3,000m in the short track, who reached an agreement to compete in the international league starting next year, as the organization of the event announced through a statement.

“I am excited to announce Josh Kerr as a GST Broker and add a talented competitor to our roster,” he said. Michael Johnson, founder and director of the new event. “Josh will show the world his incredible speed at the Olympic Games this summer, but we already know he’s one of the fastest people on the planet,” added the former sprinter.

Kerr, of Scottish descent, won gold in the 1,500m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, where he knocked out Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen. A few months later, in his own country, he was short track world champion at a distance of 3,000m.

“Grand Slam Track is the future of the sport and I’m excited to be the first British rider to enter the league,” said Kerr. “Working with Michael, a great sportsman, is incredible. He wants to change things for the better. He put us athletes at the forefront of all his decisions in creating the league,” added the middle distance runner, who is the second athlete to be confirmed after the American Sydney McLaughlin-LevroneOlympic 400m hurdles champion.

The Grand Slam Track, announced last week, will debut April 2025 and will feature four athletics meets, one of which is the city of Los Angeles. The event will include sprint, hurdles and mid-distance races, will feature a total of 96 athletes and will distribute prizes of up to $100,000 for winners and winners.
