Philippe Diallo, president of the French Football Federation (FFF), confirmed the coach in his position this Wednesday Didier Deschamps defeated in the semifinals of the Euro Cup by Spain (2-1), because “he had a contract and fulfilled the sporting goal entrusted to him.”
In an interview given to L’Equipe, the top leader of the FFF praised the work of Deschamps, Since taking office in July 2012, he won the 2018 World Cup in Russia and was runner-up in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Has a contract until 2026
Now Diallo like Deschamps continue until 2026, the year in which his contract expires and in which the World Cup will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
“In fact, he had a contract and fulfilled the sporting goal entrusted to him. And if you evaluate his career as coach of France, it was exceptional. Didier has led the team in the best possible way during this Euro Cup,” said Diallo.
“I see no reason to question his contract. The past results are in his favor and the goals have been met. Didier will continue his mission. We will be talking in the coming days to analyze in depth what we lacked in this semi-final and what will allow us to continue. This month, I saw a lot of professionalism and the pursuit of excellence. We have to keep the French team moving in this direction,” added Diallo.
Kudos to Spain
Finally, the FFF president emphasized that Spain is the rival “that has made the best impression” since the start of the Euro Cup and emphasized that according to the game there are not many teams that stand out in the tournament.
“This can be seen in a massive drop in the number of goals. France has shown qualities of stability and unity, although everyone can see that we have an offensive deficit that does not allow us to reach the final. Maybe that our weakness, studied by the players and the coaching staff,” concluded Diallo.
