Andy Murray has revealed that Paris 2024 will be his last dance as a professional.
The 37-year-old British tennis player, who has two Olympic golds in 2012 and 2016, confirmed this Tuesday on his social networks that the Paris Olympic Games will be his last participation in a tournament before officially retiring from the courts.
“I’ve arrived in Paris to play my last tennis tournament. Competing for Great Britain was, by far, the most memorable week of my career and I’m proud to be able to do it one last time,” Murray said in his network.
Murray, who lost in the first round of the doubles at Wimbledon with his brother, ultimately did not play in the singles due to back problems.
After weeks of speculation about his possible retirement, the Briton will finally arrive at the Olympic event to play in both singles and doubles. After being defeated, he stated that “it’s hard because I want to continue playing, but I can’t.”
“Physically now it is very hard. I want to play forever, I love this sport,” he said.
