Sabadell will play next week in Nova Creu Alta against Cornellà in the regional final of the Federation Cup – where both will be looking for their place in the state phase – after defeating Badalona in a penalty shootout, once the match ended 2 -2.

The first half could not have started better for Harlequinados as barely 10 minutes had passed when a Ton Ripoll penalty was converted by Rubén Martínez to make it 0-1. From here, Badalona began to dominate the contest, even reaching Sabadell’s place, but not making any truly dangerous moves. In the 26th minute the locals had a very clear approach with a cross to the far post which goalkeeper Gianni managed to clear after a shot from Fassini, although the play was invalidated for offside. Later, Dani Homet tried from outside the area, but the ball missed the post.

Sabadell could also have scored in the second with a shot from Marru that went over the crossbar (34′), but the tying goal came four minutes later when Jaume Piñol, from a direct corner, beat Cassaro.

In the last play of the first period, Marru could have made it 1-2, but his header from a corner crashed off the crossbar.

Badalona came out strong in the second half and Toni Larrosa made it 2-1 with a cross shot after some good minutes from Gerard Albadalejo’s side. The match remained balanced, although Sabadell, with the changes, gained a presence in the rival area and thus the tie came in an action where Javi Delgado received a pass from Gonpi, entered the place and defeated Juanvi. From there until the end, both teams had chances to break the tie. Gonpi got it for Harlequinados, while former Sabadell player Álvaro Vázquez scored for Badalona.

In the penalty shootout, Sabadell did not disappoint.
