The Spanish cyclist Marc Soler (UAE) stage winner Lakes of Covadongacelebrated the fact of being able to dedicate his third victory to Lap “to my wife and children” after “a few shots on the stick”, also in a legendary setting in the history of cycling.
“I don’t know if this is the best victory of my career, at the moment I don’t see it in perspective, maybe yes, but it’s enough for me to raise my arms at any stage of the Vuelta. In just a few days I realized where I won and I will enjoy it more. This victory is for my wife and my children, one of whom has just been born,” commented the Catalan cyclist at the finish line.
After 3 third place, the cyclist Vilanova i la Geltrú30 years old, finally able to raise his arms, as he did before Lekunberi (2020) and Bilbao (2022).
“I have been working for a long time and I always hit the post, and that gave me the confidence to keep fighting. I feel good and I always give my best, but in this Vuelta the results help me. Today I attacked twice and the second time I didn’t look back and I raised my arms,” said the Catalan.
Soler entered the day break with two other teammates from the UAE, Jay Vine and Isaac del Toroan absolute majority that finally translated into victory for the team.
“In the end we have to fight for the stage, we have Del Toro and Jay Vine in the break, but we ran as a team and it’s worth winning with anyone. This victory is important, but we have to keep fighting for one success,” he said.
Three wins in an even year, the former Movistar rider commented that he is still the same rider as before, but has now settled in a team that has allowed him to grow as a cyclist.
“I am the same as before, I have the same way of racing. In the UAE I found my place, and Matxín manages everything well, he knows when I should work for the team, or fight for the stage, and what I’m going to do is take advantage of the opportunities that the team gives me,” he concluded.
