He Real Betis have reached an agreement with Qatari side Al Arabi for the transfer of the Extremaduran playmaker Rodrigo Sánchez ‘Rodri’, 24 years old, for 7.5 million euros including variables. Rodri has already started a trip this Thursday afternoon to Madrid, from there to fly to Doha and undergo medical examinations before the official approval of his signing, which should be made official at the end of the week, before closing the market in the Star Qatari League, next Monday, September 9 at night.
Rodri will be a teammate at Al Arabi of Italian Marco Verratti, where the Qatari team – fifth in the last championship of the league – paid 45 million euros last year to PSG.
For Rodri there were contacts for his transfer in the summer including Como 1907, Genoa and Mallorca, but none of them reached the amount requested by Betis for his departure and the Qatari club followed suit.
Betis, despite the departure of Fekir – in which came Lo Celso – and the injury of Isco, did not plan to go to the market for free players to cover the loss of Rodri, although since they have returned to rule of 1:1 The money from this transfer will allow him to face some operations in the winter market.
