Nadal and Djokovic avoid each other until the Wimbledon final with Kyrgios as the first big threat

Date:

This Friday is the Draw Wimbledonto mark the path of the favorites to the title of champion.

The victims of Daniil Medvedev, who was banned because of his Russian nationality, and the wounded Alexander Zverev, they left Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal as top seedsguaranteeing that they will not be found until the end.

Casper Ruud (3) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (4) will be their theoretical rivals in the semifinalseven its poor adaptation to the grass means there are other more dangerous players to fear.

And it’s that in the quarterfinals they can meet three of the best players in recent weeks, Berrettini (8), Hurkacz (7) and Auger-Aliassime (6), to which we should add Carlos Alcaraz (5)coming to Wimbledon without playing an official match since his Roland Garros quarterfinal loss to Zverev on May 31.

The next group of bones, from 9 to 16, includes players with conditions that would make life difficult for anyone on the grass, such as Norrie (9), Sinner (10), Shapovalov (13), Cilic (14) and Opelka (15)while among the possible rivals in the third round we encountered tennis players of the stature of Dimitrov (18), De Miñaur (20), Isner (21) or Evans (29).

But problems for the favorites may already arise in the first roundwhere they will encounter specialists who are in good condition and not well seeded.

‘Bomb’ Kyrgios

The most unique is, no doubt, Nick Kyrgios who, if he had made it to the final last week in Halle, would have been among the 32 seeded, but his defeat to Hurkacz condemned him to meet any starting seed.

The Australian, who is playing in this week’s Mallorca tournament, added two consecutive semifinals (Stuttgart and Halle) at the start of the grass-court seasonand it seems to present a more solid and stable version of what we’re used to, making it a real time bomb that can explode in painting.

Homegrown idol Andy Murray is also not on the seeded list.who has been healing sensations in recent weeks but is still not one hundred per cent ready for the tournament in London due to the stomach injury he sustained in Stuttgart.

The British tennis player, champion of the 2013 and 2016 editions, played in the final he lost against Italian Matteo Berrettini, forcing him to ‘come down’ to the Queen’s tournament.

As for the Spaniards, Besides Nadal (2) and Alcaraz (5), Pablo Carreño (16) and Roberto Bautista (17) will start as seededwhile Alejandro Davidovich, Albert Ramos, Pedro Martínez, Jaume Munar, Roberto Carballés, Bernabé Zapata, Carlos Taberner, Pablo Andújar, Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano López will try to surprise in a tournament that will see this year how the ATP does not count its points as a penalty for the veto of Russian and Belarusian tennis playersa proposal that would cause a big earthquake in the rankings, with Novak Djokovic a big loser.

Badosa, Muguruza and Sorribes, seeded

In the women’s box, Paula Badosa and Garbiñe Muguruza will start as the fourth and ninth seed respectively, while Sara Sorribes will be the 32nd seed.

Iga Swiatek was ranked No. 1 in the tournament, followed by Kontaveit (2) and Jabeur (3).
