The Kenyan Ruth Chepngetich He confirmed this Sunday that breaking the marathon world record is his dream and expressed his pride in achieving it in Chicago, with a time of two hours, nine minutes and 57 seconds.
“I’m grateful, I’m happy, my dream came true. I tried for a long time, I passed 14 seconds, and finally I did it,” she said. Chepngetich at the press conference after the marathon.
“Now my plan is to break the record, I don’t know if in the future I can reduce it to two hours and eight minutes,” he added.
Chepngetich30, dominated the marathon from start to finish and broke the Ethiopian record Tigst Assefa (2h.11.53) achieved in Berlin in 2023.
This is his third title in the Chicagowhere he already won in 2021 and 2022.
Both the men’s and women’s marathons were recorded on the streets of Chicago and belongs to Kenyan athletes.
“For my country, it means a lot, I’m proud of my country. I’m proud of where I’m from Kenyahe said.
“I want to inspire young girls to have discipline and maybe in the future there will be girls who dream of breaking my record,” she said.
