In Seville the legal battle for control of the company continues José María del Nido Benavente, the largest shareholder, who is leading a campaign to topple the current board, now headed by his son.
In this sense, a month and a bit (the club has not yet set the date) of Ordinary General Meeting December to close the fiscal year 23-24, the small shareholders issued a statement in which they confirmed that, after the round of talks held with all the actors, peace is “impossible .”
Shareholders United, the platform that brings together the largest number of small shareholders, remains convinced that the solution will be a new agreement between the big families of Sevilla and the departure of the American partner (777 Partners), currently partner of Del Nido Benavente, outside of it .
The full statement is as follows:
“United Shareholders of SFC, as a continuation of our statement from the month of September, we would like to inform our groups and Sevillismo in general, that after a long period of intense activity and several meetings in the last two months, held by Our BOARD OF DIRECTORS together with the various families that make up most of the actions of the SFC, and aiming to find a CONSENSUS SOLUTION to the current situation of the club, would like to express our disappointment at the negative result of these efforts.
As Shareholders United, we intend to achieve, from our moderate and minority shareholding contribution, and from our proven independence, that the various families that make up the bulk of the majority of SFC shares, reach a consensus for the management of the Club, in such a way that at the next General Shareholders’ Meeting, a Unitary, Pluralistic Board of Directors will be established, with people trained for economic, sporting and institutional management of the club.
The idea with which we approach these talks is to destroy what, we believe, is hindering the future of the SFC: the PACT for PASTA, whose name was created by Shareholders United at the famous AGM of 2019 , where, and apart from the Club, the families that make up the majority of the corporation, have shared, we insist, outside society, the management and direction of the SFC.
Well, after several long meetings, without tension, we must inform our groups, and Sevillism in general, that it is impossible to bring these talks to a successful conclusion.
We believe, and we believe, that a SHAREHOLDERS AGREEMENT for SEVILLA FÚTBOL CLUB is what Sevilla fans are asking for in these moments of uncertainty. We tried, but, between arguments, the blockade situation between these majority shareholding families continues.
In any case, we will continue to work hard to ensure that the current circumstances change, and we will not give up in our efforts to prevent the management of the club from falling into the hands of foreign capital that is not SEVILLISTA.”
