The Asturian revealed in remarks to Fox Sports what he said to Max when he chatted with him on drivers parade before the F1 Las Vegas GP and at the post-race weigh-in, when he congratulated her on her fourth world title.
“I told him then at the drivers’ parade and now at the weigh-in. I congratulate Verstappen on this year. I think he has to be very proud of this year because he didn’t have the best car for much of the championship but he had no weak points, no mistakes, he added all the points that could add and more, sometimes thanks to driving him.” he commented.
“The best example is Brazil, who just with his talent won the race, because I don’t think the car is for that position. So it’s the best”he added directly.
“He has been the best driver this year and we must congratulate him. We must continue looking for weak points, which right now he doesn’t seem to have,” Fernando concluded in relation to this.
