LaLiga football warned this Friday hack 25% more than Spain than the average for other countries in the European Union, according to a recent study by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). This percentage refers to each user’s average access to sports content through fraud on a monthly basis, according to a LaLiga statement.
Javier Tebaspresident of LaLiga, criticized the platforms and big companies that “profit” from this data. “Relevant measures are not being taken, there is still a lot of protection from big companies like Google, X or Cloudflare,” said Tebas. Also, the report states that the piracy of sporting events in European territory will increase by 36.5% between 2021 and 2023. In July 2024, LaLiga announced that it had reached more than a thousand judgments against hotels , restaurant or cafe that committed audiovisual fraud.
The statement comes a day after announcing a new price increase on certain audiovisual packages to watch football in Spain starting in January 2025. This Friday, LaLiga is organizing a conference against audiovisual fraud in Latin America, where the percentage in Countries like Mexico exceeds the data for Spain by 28%, including the participation of Tebas itself.
