Wyndham Clark made seven birdies without a bogey this Thursday to mark the rhythm on the first day of WM Phoenix Open In Scottsdale, Arizona.
Rotation is technically suspended due to darkness before 6:15 pm local time. Nine players still have one or two holes to play at the time of the announcement.
Clark’s 7-Bajo-Par 64 in Scottsdale TPC is better than Taylor Moore and Lee Hodges. Justin Thomas is in the mix after opening a 5-low 66.
Clark, the US Open Champion 2023, made four consecutive birdies from number 8 to launch his week. The first two came from 16 and 14 feet, and the room of that section was a simple 4 feet after a perfect image approach.
While Clark’s latest success in the circuit took place at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2024 12 months ago, Thomas continues to pursue his first success of any kind from the PGA 2022 championship. He began his twist in the last nine holes and removed an early bogey making three birdies per nine.
THE WORLD NUMBER 1 Scottie Scheffler, in his second removal from the weather, has nearly nine wild holes where he made two eagles and a double bogey with two birdies. Combined with a 2-on 37 in its first nine holes, it was established at 2-under 69.
The other remaining players were Canadian Corey Conners and South Korea Tom Kim, with 4 under 67, Jordan Spieth, with 3 bass 68, and Japanese Hideki Matsuyama, with 1 bass 70.
