According to the list of numbers affected by this attack from CyberNews, cyber fraudsters in Spain are said to have stolen a total of 10,894,206 WhatsApp phone numbers.

“Smishing” is a form of cyber threat that consists of the sending of a text message by a malicious person “impersonating a legitimate entity and for the purpose of stealing private information or making a financial claim”, as defined by the Institute of National Cybersecurity (INCIBE).

Vishing, for its part, is another type of social engineering phone scam that allows these cybercriminals to impersonate an organization or a natural person by calling to obtain personal information.
