Alfa Romeo passes on all its DNA to the new Tonale

The compact SUV retains the brand’s sporty appearance, but enhances its urban character

Alfa Romeo begins its renewal of the range with the Tonale, a compact SUV in the C-segment that aims to convince city drivers in love with the sporty spirit of the legendary Italian brand. The new model retains the original DNA, with its sporty lines and sharp silhouette, but what is important, inside it is a hybrid mechanical range consisting of petrol and diesel engines and a plug-in hybrid version that will arrive in the fall .

The Tonale is now available in the Hybrid configuration, with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 130PS in the Super and Sprint versions, or 160PS in the Ti and Veloce versions, both paired with the new 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox with a 48 volt, 15 kW and 55 Nm «P2» electric motor. Available in both power levels comes the launch version, Edizione Speciale, very generous in technological content and connectivity, characterized by the sportiness typical of Alfa Romeo

Authentic Alfa Romeo driving dynamics and agility in the Tonale thanks to specific technical solutions such as steering, a brake-by-wire system for regenerative braking and electronic suspension.

The Tonale is the most technological Alfa Romeo of all time. The highest level of connectivity and an all-new infotainment system designed to provide wireless updates and Amazon Alexa integration. Super, Sprint, Ti and Veloce are the four distinctive finishes of the new Tonale.

It includes three driving modes: Dynamic, Natural and Advance Efficiency. Three shapes with which the engine can get the answer to every need. Dynamic mode is when it really feels like you are behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo. Something we were able to verify on the winding roads along Lake Como (Italy), where in some parts the car had to have a plus to avoid very narrow areas where only two cars passed. It is designed with a specific accelerator pedal calibration, which allows for more effective braking and a more direct steering response. In Dynamic mode, you really feel the car’s look, with excellent cornering grip that gives the driver confidence.

The ‘Natural’ mode maintains the best performance optimization and automatically manages the interaction between the use of the electric motor and the combustion engine. Therefore, energy savings and consumption in daily use do not come at the expense of performance. And finally, the ‘Advance Efficiency’ mode has been calibrated for maximum energy efficiency in the hybrid version.

The entry-level version of the Alfa Romeo Tonale is the Super 130 MHEV and costs 36,250 euros.
