Eighteen of the accidents occurred on conventional roads and 1 on a motorway or expressway.
On the Spanish roads, 19 traffic accidents have been registered with 21 deaths, including 11 vulnerable users (8 motorcyclists, 2 bicycle users and 1 pedestrian), according to the preliminary balance of the DGT which covers from Friday 3:00 pm this Monday.
During the month of April, 90 fatal accidents were recorded on the road, killing 99 people, 25 more than in the same month of 2019.
This accident rate occurred in a context of a higher number of trips (+6%); Specifically, 37.6 million long-distance journeys were recorded throughout the month, compared to 35.4 million in April 2019.
76 of the deaths occurred in accidents that occurred on conventional roads, compared to 23 recorded on high-capacity roads (motorways or expressways).
As for the bridge, there were no fatalities on Friday, while as many as five occurred on Saturday. A motorcyclist was killed in the early hours of Saturday after a collision with a car on road DP-0905, in Paderne (A Coruña).
That same day, a motorist was killed in a collision between two motorcycles and a passenger car on the A-372 in Arcos de la Frontera (Cádiz). Two other motorcyclists were killed in a head-on collision between their two motorcycles on the A-2001 in El Puerto de Santa María, in the same province.
Similarly, a pedestrian died on Saturday in an accident on the CM-4200 in the town of Chillón (Ciudad Real), while on a local road in the municipality of Agolada (Pontevedra), the driver of a tractor was killed in a road exit.
On the other hand, on Sunday a road exit on the CM-200 in Almonacid de Zorita (Guadalajara) killed one, while on the A-390 in Cádiz a motorist died in another road exit.
A pedestrian was also killed in an accident on the BA-142 in Valdetorres (Badajoz) on Sunday and another person died in Villanueva de Sigena (Huesca) when his car fell into the Monegros Canal. In addition, another motorcyclist was killed on Sunday at an exit on the EX-118 in Castañar de Ibor (Cáceres).
This Monday, two people have already died in traffic accidents on the Spanish roads. One was a cyclist, hit by a truck on the A-7 in Marbella (Málaga), and another, also a cyclist, in a collision with a tractor on the LE-4514 in Cuadros (León).
