The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin was born to overcome adverse situations

The greater the challenge, the greater the reward. Inspired by the Dakar legend, with hard hitting performance, black accents and new colors taken straight from rally competition, the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin was born to perform when the going gets tough.

Designed to push the boundaries, the CRF450R-inspired aluminum main frame and swingarm are light and stiff. And for precise suspension response, the 45mm Showa inverted forks are tuned for rebound and compression damping. The Showa rear shock is activated via Pro-Link for compression and rebound damping, as well as spring adjustment via a adjuster on the shock body.

The 8-valve SOHC twin-cylinder engine produces 75 kW at its peak with 105 Nm of torque. But it’s the way this bike reacts that’s exciting. With a 46mm throttle body driven by optimized ECU settings, the connection between the right hand and the rear tire is precise. So whether you’re looking for grip on gravel or winding through a series of tight corners, it’s a top performer in every rev range.

Control is what the Africa Twin offers and essentially a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) controls the bike when braking, cornering and accelerating. And this results in precise 7-level HSTC management, as well as 3-level Wheelie Control and C’ornering ABS’ control. It has four standard riding modes: ‘Urban’, ‘Tour’, ‘Gravel’ and ‘Off-Road’, plus two custom user options to tailor the bike to road conditions.

You can choose the Africa Twin with a six-speed manual transmission or the innovative six-speed DCT, which can mean stress-free and smooth, automatic shifts.

Of course you have the option to quickly switch to manual steering using the paddles on the left, which is ideal for shifting gears or holding a gear off road.
