Depending on the type of accident, abuses increased from five fatalities in May 2019 to eight this year. There was also a slight increase in the number of exits with 35 deaths, compared to the 34 fatalities in May 2019. According to the transport medium, nearly half of the deaths in May were vulnerable users, with the number of cyclists increasing from two to two. nine. The number of motorcyclists who died is falling from 34 in May 2019 to 26 in the same month this year.

As for the use of restraint systems, 11 of the deceased were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Two motorcyclists and two cyclists were also not wearing helmets.

According to the autonomous communities, Extremadura, Canarias and Castilla y León were the autonomous areas that recorded the largest increases compared to the figures for May 2019. On the other side, Galicia, with seven fewer deaths.

The day with the most deaths was Sunday, May 1, with 7 deaths. In contrast, there were three days with zero deaths: Tuesday 3rd, Friday 6th and Wednesday 25th May. So far this year, 439 people have died, 24 more than in the first five months of 2019.
