A Consumer Organization survey puts it in last position out of 36 brands due to its high failure rate
Tesla is among the car brands with the most breakdowns, according to the OCU’s survey of reliability and car satisfaction among 52,430 drivers in 5 European countries. Asian brands are once again the champions of reliability, with nine manufacturers at the top of the most reliable. The ranking is led by Lexus, Subaru and Toyota and closed by Tesla. In terms of engine type, petrol hybrids form the group with the most breakdown-resistant cars.
In total, the Organization of Consumers and Users verified the information of 326 models in 523 versions with different engines. Tesla is positioned as the least reliable car brand, along with other luxury car manufacturers such as Alfa Romeo or Jaguar.
With regard to the main breakdowns, the study distinguishes according to their nature.
For example, 17% of electrical faults are caused by electrical components: batteries, fuses, light bulbs, warning lights, locks, window controls, wiring. Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Citröen, Fiat, Renault and Seat are the brands that suffer the most.
13% of brake system failures are caused by brake pumps, pipes, discs, drums or cables. Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Citroën, Fiat are where they fail the most.
Electronics cause 8% of the malfunctions reported by the respondents. Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Fiat, Renault, Opel and Lancia are the brands with the most problems.
In the supply system, 7% of malfunctions occur in carburetors, fuel pumps, injection systems. Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Fiat, Lancia and Opel are the ones that suffer the most.
Steering, damping, steering, axles and tires cause 7% of breakdowns, but Alfa Romeo, Audi, Chevrolet and Citröen fail the most.
As for the mechanics, the elements of the engine cause 8% of the failures. Alfa Romeo, Audi, Chevrolet, Citröen, Fiat and Renault are the brands that suffer the most.
Heating and ventilation are responsible for 6% of the failures. Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Lancia, Renault and Mini.
