They are creating a platform to share charging points for electric cars

Date:

Currently, and with just over 3% of electric cars, public infrastructure can power only 10% of plug-in vehicles

In Spain, a total of 150,000 electric vehicles are registered and according to company data, about 60% depend on public charging points to ensure their operation, of which there are only 15,000 in the whole country, meaning that only the public infrastructure is capable of supplying 10% of electric cars.

This happens when this type of vehicle represents 2.47% of the market share in May. For the full year, sales of these vehicles were 13,169 units, 65.3% more than in the same period of the previous year. The cumulative share of the year is 3.5%, suggesting that the more popular this type of car becomes, the more difficulties users will experience in finding a charging point, if there is no higher evolution in the installation of poles, both public and privately .

Faced with this situation, CargaTuCoche has developed a community where members can share their own charging point with any other member of the network, making use of the existing infrastructure to offer a suitable network, both for the needs of the user and for the development of electric mobility.

Anyone can sign up for this service to share their charge point or use that of other drivers. It is an innovative idea that aims to connect people and work together by sharing their resources, to increase the number of charging points available to drivers and advance the future of mobility.

“Collaborative Recharging is proof that future mobility concerns not only vehicles, but also people. We are moving towards more human and closer mobility and collaboration between drivers will be essential to make this work. The idea of creating a network of users, a community, sharing its resources, to ensure delivery everywhere. This will solve one of the major obstacles that electric mobility has: the lack of a sufficient network of public electric chargers,” said Enrique Alía, CEO and founder of CargaTuCoche.

Collaborative Recharge will consist of several phases in 2022 and the first step, just taken, is to start creating a community to answer questions, co-create Collaborative Recharge and look for the first connections between members. The company hopes to offer Collaborative Recharge via an app by the end of the year.

The truth is that according to the ANFAC Electric Mobility Barometer, Spain is the second lowest country in Europe in terms of charging infrastructures, with indicators that are 50% lower than the European average. In order to have a modern automotive industry that complies with European standards, which state that combustion vehicles will no longer be sold by 2035, it is necessary to guarantee the supply of energy to ensure the supply of the existing vehicle fleet.
