Price is the most important factor when choosing a workshop for the overhaul of the car

Date:

More than half of Spaniards believe that if they carry out the overhaul outside the dealership, they will lose their vehicle’s warranty

Price and trust are two of the factors that consumers value most when choosing a workshop for car reviews. But in addition, more than half of Spaniards (53%) believe that if they carry out the overhaul outside the dealership, they will lose the warranty on their vehicle. They are two of the topics of the Spanish drivers about the official revisions of the car.

These are some of the conclusions of the #EllasConducen Sin Barreras study, prepared by the Midas maintenance chain, which shows that 77.30% of Spaniards are aware of the importance of vehicle inspections, especially when on holiday.

When asked about the most determining factors when choosing where to check the vehicle, price (68%), confidence (65.90%) and quality of check (69.90%) prevail. respondents would be willing to switch from a dealer to a multi-brand workshop (or vice versa) if the remanufacturing system is the same, but cheaper.

Regarding the habits of Spaniards regarding vehicle inspection, 77.50% assure that taking into account the times set by the manufacturer to carry out the vehicle inspection, compared to 22.50% who only go to the workshop to carry out overhauls if something doesn’t work correctly.

79.50% of Spaniards think that in a dealership the price for overhaul is much higher than in a workshop, as this is associated with it being more complete or having more checkpoints overhauled (10.19%). However, there are workshops or companies that work according to the manufacturer’s instructions. In some cases, this type of review can be up to 40% cheaper than in official workshops.

The main reason put forward for having the overhaul done at a dealership is essentially that it is the only way to keep the official warranty of the vehicle (50%). This is another widely held false belief, as since 2002 it is not necessary to test the car in the official house to maintain the manufacturer’s warranty. “According to data from our survey, 53.8% of drivers who decide to have their vehicle checked by a dealer believe they are not retaining the vehicle warranty, which is not true under the regulations,” he adds. Bravo, Client & Digital Marketing Manager at Midas Spain.

On the other hand, another aspect to take into account is the quality and depth of the study made of the vehicle. The data from the #EllasConducen Sin Barreras study indicates that 69.1% of survey participants do not know how many vehicle points are checked during the assessment, although 66.7% think it would be a maximum of 30.
