This price is the lowest since June 30 last year and represents the fifth consecutive decline in electricity production, worth 62% below historical maximum registered on March 8 (EUR 544.98/MWh), almost two weeks after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Despite the decrease and the cap, consumers will pay for the MWh of electricity tomorrow twice as many as a year ago.

According to data from the electricity market operator OMIE and the Iberian gas market (Mibgas), the wholesale price of electricity (paid by consumers with a regulated tariff) will be 140 euros lower than the 348.22 euros that would have been paid per MWh if the cap was on gas. for power generation was out of place.

In a context characterized by the energy instability suffered by Europe, electricity continues to show very high values ​​in the continent’s main economies, where MWh will generally be more than 550 euros/MWh tomorrow.

In concrete terms, an average price of 563.76 euros/MWh is reached in Germany, compared to 553.62 euros/MWh in France.

For its part, the price in Italy will be 549.06 euros/MWh, while in the United Kingdom it will reach 397.99 pounds/MWh (about 473 euros at the current exchange rate).

In Portugal, where the cap on gas is also used under the so-called “Iberian exception”has marked the auction price the same as in Spain, a country with which it shares a market.
