After the long late summer phase, autumn has finally arrived in Austria. On Monday, a cold front with dense cloud will reach the country, which can cause repeated rain showers. The maximum temperatures next week will probably remain below 25 degrees. On Friday, only twelve degrees are expected!
From Monday, the heat and tropical nights will come to an end: the influence of low pressure and a cold front will cause dense cloud and rain in some places, with rain possible at first. As the day progresses, the rain area will move east. In the afternoon, the sun could appear again. The maximum temperatures are still only 16 to 21 degrees.
Rain showers and 24 degrees
On Tuesday, short showers will continue to fall. Especially along the northern side of the Alps, from Vorarlberg to Upper Austria. In the afternoon, the clouds will often clear up and there will be longer sunny periods. Further east, sunny and cloudy periods will alternate, with only short showers. Temperatures of up to 24 degrees can be reached.
On Wednesday, the next cold front approaches from the west. This means that the day will start partly sunny and will be free of precipitation, especially in the east and south. In the middle of the morning, cumulus clouds formed with subsequent rain showers above the mountains and the Mostviertel. In the afternoon, cloud cover increases from the west and there will be widespread rain. This time, too, the maximum temperatures will be between 17 and 24 degrees.
The snowfall level drops significantly
Thursday will be mostly cloudy and mostly cloudy and rainy. From the northwest, the snowline will start to drop towards evening to well below 2000 meters to average height. Early temperatures: nine to 15 degrees, daily maximum temperatures: 13 to 23 degrees.
Friday stormy wind
On Friday, the low centre will move from northern Italy to eastern Hungary during the day. This means that the cloud cover will remain largely closed throughout Austria, it will rain occasionally, except that in the east the snowfall line will drop further to 1000 metres. On the peaks and on the eastern edge of the Alps, there will sometimes be a stormy north-westerly wind. The maximum daytime temperatures will be only six to twelve degrees.
