Dortmund main station has been closed to train traffic early on Saturday morning due to bad weather. The signal box did not work because water had penetrated after a storm, said a spokesman for Deutsche Bahn (DB).
Since around 3:30 am, no more trains can enter the station. The outage is expected to last until late in the evening. There are significant delays and disruptions, DB said.
Long-distance traffic is being diverted. Regional trains are also diverted or returned shortly before the central station. According to the DB, work is underway to set up replacement traffic. Travelers were asked to find out more on the internet or via the Deutsche Bahn app before starting their journey.
