Arrest in the case of the alleged murder of a 57-year-old woman in Oberwaltersdorf, Lower Austria: If he was initially listed as a witness, the handcuffs clicked for the dead man’s husband on Thursday.
The 64-year-old himself informed the emergency services on Wednesday. Moments later, they made a terrible discovery in the bedroom of the house in Oberwaltersdorf. The 57-year-old woman had suffered multiple stab wounds to her head and there was no rescue for her.
The 64-year-old was in shock and initially received psychological help. First, the management led him as a witness, as was called Thursday morning. The alleged murder case was initially directed against unknown persons.
“Urgent suspicion”
The 64-year-old suspect was arrested Thursday morning. Police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner said there was a “strong suspicion of a crime”. An initial interrogation had already been conducted, but further interrogations were still pending, as he emphasized.
In an initial investigation, the suspect denied having anything to do with the bloody crime. He claims to have slept in another room and found the 57-year-old injured in the morning. He also tried to perform CPR.
A request for the imposition of pre-trial detention by the public prosecutor is still pending. This move could take place on Friday, said Erich Habitzl, spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office in Wiener Neustadt.
