A Croat convicted of repeatedly raping a 15-year-old girl fled to Styria. There, however, the handcuffs clicked. The 22-year-old is in custody.
A 15-year-old girl in a village near Zadar, Croatia, suffered a horrific martyrdom. Six young men allegedly sexually abused and raped her from August 2018 to July 2019. Sometimes they recorded the crimes with a cell phone. They used it to blackmail the teen and threatened to send the films to her parents and friends if she didn’t consent to the sex.
Three years later, in late July, the six suspects were sentenced to prison terms – not yet final. The 22-year-old alleged main perpetrator was sentenced to seven years in prison. But he wanted to avoid his sentence and fled before the verdict was handed down.
“Top example of collaboration”
An EU arrest warrant was issued against the man on August 18. Just a day later, the handcuffs clicked in an apartment in Graz where he has reportedly lived before! Civilian investigators from the Styrian EGS (Street Crime Counters) arrested the man, he did not resist. “A good example of international police cooperation”, says the National Police Directorate.
The 22-year-old is now in extradition custody, the Graz prosecutor’s office confirms at the request of “Krone”. The extradition hearing will then take place in early September.
