Guests sent away – “construction hell” for the bike path: the host fears for the future

Date:

Since May there has been a real downturn in the “Check In” bar at Bad Vöslau-Kottingbrunn airport in Lower Austria due to road construction – the host family is desperate, of course, 50 percent of the turnover is missing. Blame the municipality and construction companies…

Gaping emptiness instead of bustling activity – that is the current situation in the airport bar “Check In” near Kottingbrunn, Baden district. The culprit is not the inflation wave or the crowds on the runway, but the “construction hell” on the access road. The government is spending 2.4 million euros for a combined bicycle and pedestrian path, including a roundabout.

The local owner is missing out on thousands of euros because of the long-haul flight, he is outraged: “There was no discussion beforehand and the mayor has not been seen since our last appointment. Our company has collapsed by 50 percent because no one makes the detour”, complain the local operator Christian Fischer and his partner Michelle Bendekovics.

The pressure on those responsible is increasing
Support comes from the ombudsman association Kottingbrunn: “This construction site has been planned by the planning office in such a way that the costs for the community are the cheapest, but the entrepreneurs can cost their existence! In addition, other companies build entire streets in a few months, in Kottingbrunn is only enough for a bicycle path, Mayor Christian Macho must step in,” spokesman Wolfgang Faltus muttered.

Meanwhile, they even want to dispute the Klagsweg at the airport. In sight: the municipality and all the companies involved.
