A boulder hangs menacingly over the property of a couple of retirees in Rosenau/Hengstpass in Upper Austria. But no one has come by as an expert.
The boulder hangs in the immediate fall line on a steep slope about 100 meters above the home of Roswitha R. and Peter Sch. in Rosenau on the Stallion Pass. Only a tree is holding him right now. As smaller rocks continue to roll toward the property, the couple (both 76) are now concerned that the rock’s subsoil will loosen and come loose during a storm.
“Then it rolls through our house and we still have two entrances,” says Roswitha R. with false humour, because the stone actually worries her a lot. “At the moment I can only sleep badly with fear, I am afraid of every storm. Forces of nature are difficult to calculate,” emphasizes the pensioner. She has lived in the building in Innerrosenau, which was built 65 years ago, for 52 years.
“A neighbor drew our attention to the threatening situation – he said the boulder doesn’t look right anymore,” agrees her husband Peter Sch. who got a picture of the current situation on Monday. The couple’s dearest wish: that an expert will finally look at the situation on site. The “Krone” asked Elisabeth Leitner, district governor of Kirchdorf: “The current and avalanche barriers can look at it.”
