Many Unsure – These Three Cash Injections Are Now Paying Out

Date:

Since September 1, so today, the climate bonus has landed on the bills – and that involves guesswork. Because other financial injections are also being paid out at the same time and there was apparently too little information from the federal government in advance, there is great confusion. We provide an overview of all current financial support and explain who is entitled to what.

Sonja K. was surprised when she picked up her pension on Thursday – and she’s not alone. The Carinthian was happy with more money than usual. No wonder, because the climate bonus of €500 is currently being paid out. However, the joy of many retirees was quickly tempered: while Sonja’s husband received an extra 500 euros, only 112.64 euros ended up in her own account. Sonja K. received a disappointing explanation from the Pensionsversicherungsanstalt (PVA): “Because your pension is less than 960 euros net, you get this bonus part – exactly 14.2 percent. Her husband gets more pension and therefore the full 500 euros. We are not responsible for the climate bonus.”

The “Krone” asked and can make it clear: the bonus that Mrs. S. and her husband received when they retired is actually not the climate bonus. Because several cash injections are currently being distributed: “The disbursement of this additional aid will begin on September 1, fast, unbureaucratic and immediate. For a family with two children, this means: after the double child benefit in August, you will now immediately receive at least 1,500 euros,” said Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP).

Climate bonus: 500 euros for everyone
The climate bonus will ab Paid out on September 1, so it may not show up in the account until the next few days and weeks. That amounts to 500 euros and consists of a climate bonus of 250 euros and an anti-inflation bonus of 250 euros. All adults whose account details are known will be paid immediately. Retirees receive it on the account to which the pension is also transferred. Children are entitled to 250 euros. Read here how you can get your climate bonus.

Up to 500 euros for retirees
The bonus that confused Mrs. S. today is an extraordinary one-off payment for retirees: depending on the amount of your pension, up to 500 euros will be transferred to you. Everyone with a pension between 1200 and 1800 euros will receive the full amount. There is a loop-in or loop-out scheme for smaller and larger pensions – Mrs. S. is affected by this. This immediate aid is also available to all employees – in the form of living expenses, who will be eligible for tax equalization from January 2023.

Cost of living: 300 euros for the needy
In addition to these two bonuses, there is also the adjustment to the cost of living: that is 300 euros for people on low incomes – such as minimum pensioners or recipients of minimum security, unemployment benefits and student grants. For many people with a low income, the extra annual income due to emergency aid increases by about ten percent. Minister of Social Affairs Johannes Rauch (Greens): “Up to 1000 euros per person is an important contribution to absorb the price increases for energy, food and housing. The people will receive the money in the coming days.”
