Due to the continuous rain, the operational management of the professional fire brigade of Innsbruck decided on Monday morning to activate the mobile flood protection in the Sill area. The pedestrian and bicycle path from Rapoldi Park to Pradler Bridge is closed for safety reasons.
The bridges and streams are controlled by the fire department. In addition to the professional fire brigade, the volunteer fire brigades of Reichenau, Mühlau and Amras are currently deployed. The inn wall in the Recengasse area to the east was also secured with sandbags. The Tirol Kliniken have now been commissioned to set up their flood protection.
Tree trunks and lots of debris
“Due to crossing the HW 5 boundary, we decided to install mobile flood protection. The sill currently contains a lot of rubble and numerous tree trunks. I am pleased that we bought the mobile flood protection last year and are therefore prepared for imminent flooding in the area of the Sill”, emphasizes the responsible deputy mayor of Innsbruck, Johannes Anzengruber.
Mobile flood protection Sill
In the event of an imminent flood, the bank along the Sill in the area of the Pradler Bridge and the Rapoldi Park can be quickly secured. The protection is built by the professional fire brigade of Innsbruck over a length of 100 meters in the St. Bartlmä area. The volunteer fire brigades in Amras and Reichenau are building a 200 meter long protective wall at the Pradler Bridge in the north and south.
The mobile protection elements are easier to set up than sandbags and can also be stored in a space-saving manner. The mobile elements are each 50 centimeters high and 90 centimeters wide.
