A double-decker bus with about 70 Austrian holidaymakers on board ran aground on Wednesday evening in a railway underpass in the northern Italian Adriatic resort of Cervia near the port city of Ravenna.
Four minors suffered minor injuries and were taken to Cesena hospital, police said. The group of 61 children and their adult carers were on their way home from Cervia towards Austria when the bus became stuck in the railway underpass at about 8.30pm for reasons that are unclear.
Holidaymakers returned to the hotel
The local police and fire brigade of Cervia rescued the occupants of the bus. The children were accommodated in the hotel where they stayed during the holiday. For the time being, there was no information about the exact origin of the Austrians.
