Fatal accident Thursday evening in Innsbruck: A 20-year-old cyclist was hit by a bus and thrown onto the road after the driver had previously made a wrong turn. The neighbor suffered serious head injuries.
The serious accident happened just before 7:30 p.m.: A 54-year-old Romanian drove the bus west at the beginning of Museumstrasse and, according to police, turned right into Ing.-Etzel-Strasse at the railway underpass there, despite the turning ban.
And then it happened: the 20-year-old local resident, who wanted to cross the road at the same time as her bicycle, was hit on the front right of the bus and thrown onto the street. “Passers-by who were present immediately started the rescue chain and provided first aid,” said the police.
Seriously injured in hospital
The young woman, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered serious head injuries, according to investigators. After receiving first aid at the accident site, she was taken by ambulance to the Innsbruck clinic.
