Carlos III approved this Saturday as part of a series of orders issued after his formal proclamation as the new King of England that the day of the funeral of Elizabeth II is declared National party in the United Kingdom.
The President of the Access Council, Penny Mordauntpointed out that one of the proclamations “designates the day of Elizabeth II’s state funeral as a national holiday in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland”, to which Carlos III responded with an “approved”.
Buckingham Palace said on Friday: royal mourning lasts up to seven days after the funeral of Elizabeth II. While a date hasn’t been officially confirmed as of yet, something the Royal House has assured will happen “in due course” is expected to happen. on September 19.
The hitherto Prince of Wales automatically ascended the throne on Thursday after the death of his mother, Elizabeth II, at the age of 96, so the proclamation was purely ceremonial. The organization currently has more than 700 members, although only about 200 have been called.
