Arrested by police after man jumped Buckingham Palace barrier

Following the appointment of the heir apparent Charles to succeed the late Queen Elizabeth II, Charles III. along with his wife Camilla, who now bears the title Queen Consort, thousands of spectators. In the margins of this ceremony, an incident took place. As seen in a short video clip circulating on social media, a bystander cleared the cordon and ran across The Mall. But the police immediately intervened.

He was then brought to the ground by some uniformed officers, tied up and taken away. The police action was greeted with applause from onlookers. Scotland Yard confirmed the incident at the request of the German news agency and announced that the man initially remained in custody.

It is not clear why he jumped the guardrail. But the new king’s convoy was close by. Charles III (73) was officially proclaimed the new king in the morning. He stopped in his car at the Mall that night to talk to the people who had gathered there.

Thousands of spectators shouted “Long live the king”
Charles, 73, and Camilla, 75, accepted flowers from the crowd at the mall and shook hands. As shown on TV, the couple’s car was found in the middle of the street, where thousands of onlookers had gathered to catch a glimpse of the royal couple. Charles and Camilla were greeted with applause and cries of ‘Long live the King’. The national anthem was also sung.
