A serious traffic accident took place near Leoben on Sunday afternoon: a car ran off the road, rolled over several times and almost fell over a slope in the Mur. The occupants (both 19 years old) were taken to hospital by rescue helicopter. The driver must have been driving too fast.
On Sunday around 3 p.m., two young men were driving in a car on the B 116 between St. Michael and Leoben. According to the police, the 19-year-old driver, a German living in Leoben, stepped on the banquet during an overtaking maneuver and ran off the road. The car overturned on a steep embankment and then came to a stop in the thick undergrowth on the banks of the Mur – just above the water!
The two 19-year-olds got stuck in the wreckage, firefighters from three weirs freed the injured and a zille was also used. The boys were taken to hospital by rescue helicopter with unknown injuries.
The exact course of the accident is still being recorded, but it is believed that the driver was also speeding.
