Monday there was a tragic accident at work in Vienna-Meidling. An employee on a construction site fell about five meters through a hole in the ceiling formwork. Employees immediately alerted the emergency services.
The incident happened around noon when the 55-year-old construction worker fell near a large construction site, according to police. He is said to have suffered several serious injuries to his back and lower leg.
Bus delays
The injured man had to be rescued with a turntable ladder truck of the Vienna professional fire service. During the rescue operation, the surrounding streets were closed for about half an hour at the intersection of the Rechte Wienzeile on the Fabriksbrücke. This caused delays in the buses.
The construction worker was then taken to a hospital. There is no danger to life.
