E-bikes, jewellery, household appliances and the like: the list of things that a Tyrolean couple would have received with false promises, but which in the end were never paid for, is long. Now the suspects could be put down. The damage is now over 100,000 euros. The couple is in custody.
The 46-year-old resident and his wife (45) would go crazy all over Tyrol for a whole year. The couple is suspected of committing at least 44 cheats between the beginning of July 2021 and the end of June this year. The procedure was largely the same.
false promises
The duo marched into several shops, pretending to be “willing and able to pay”, according to police, and took the chosen loot home, promising to pay the bill later or by bank transfer. Many traders fell for the scam. Insanely expensive e-bikes, jewelry, electronic devices and household items were stolen, among other things. The total damage to date is estimated at more than 100,000 euros.
Bill cheated in hotels
But that’s not all: the couple – so far there are two known cases – also cheated the bill after staying in hotels. The duo were eventually caught after a bicycle dealer in the Stubai Valley became suspicious and informed the police.
The two suspects have been arrested and have now been transferred to the Innsbruck prison. Further investigations are underway.
