As announced by the President of the Spanish government Pedro Sánchez at the beginning of the month, the reduction will be applied from October and will be in effect for a period of three months, until the end of the year. However, the option to extend the measure until 2023 will be left open if the situation calls for it.

Between October and December of this year, the State will stop importing about 190 million euros, a reduction that is compensated by inflation revenues.

It has also been approved that the installations of cogeneration are temporarily covered by the Iberian mechanism that limits the price of the gas used for electricity generation, as the industry had requested and as Sánchez also announced two weeks ago.

This measure affects some 600 installations, which together represent 20% of gas consumption in Spain and contribute 20% of industrial GDP, and according to Ribera, half of the park that has stopped operating today due to the rise in energy prices will resume. your business and can bring electricity back into the system.

A third measure approved this Tuesday is the creation of the so-called “fast demand response service”something similar to what was previously called “interruptibility mechanism”, the application of which will be performed by Red Eléctrica.

This mechanism guarantees the availability of industrial installations so that, in exchange for financial compensation, they stop 15 minutes in advance if necessary and thus reduce their electricity demand within a maximum of three hours.
