Poland has long been planning to increase the number of its armed forces. A voluntary basic military service has recently been introduced. The employees of the Polish Post are also being called upon to be trained by associations of homeland security (WOT) in handling the weapon.

The Polish army currently has 110,000 soldiers, plus 30,000 men and women in internal security. A staff increase to 250,000 professional soldiers and 50,000 members of homeland security is planned. Poland and Ukraine, which has been attacked by Russia, are connected by a border more than 500 kilometers long.
