Fire brigade deployment in the office of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen: Authorities have confirmed that an incident has taken place at the Commission building in Brussels. Accordingly, an envelope containing a suspicious powder was secured.
According to a correspondent for the newspaper De Telegraaf, the entire 13th floor of the Berlaymont building, where von der Leyen’s office is located, has been evacuated.
The Commission president and other people would have exited the building safely, it said. There were no injuries. In the afternoon, the emergency services romp around the building, some with breathing apparatus.
