Donations for the Sons – Deep Grief Over the Death of a Father of Two

Date:

Thomas Schulner was a driver for the district administration of Gmünd. The 42-year-old died in the company car, leaving behind a wife and two children, ages 13 and 8. He was closely involved with the fire brigade, clubs and fellow human beings. Now his home church is calling for the financial future of the bereaved to be secured.

Tragic scenes took place on Tuesday morning, in which 42-year-old father Thomas Schulner was ripped from life. During a business trip to St. Pölten, the employee of the municipality of Gmünd collided head-on with the car of a 22-year-old in the Teichhäuser district of the Zwettl district. Even the rapid deployment of the rescue services could not avert the inevitable – for Schulner all help came too late.

“Very helpful family man”
Always showing great voluntary commitment, Schulner joined the Gmünd fire brigade at the age of 18. With his wife he built a house in Albrechts near Waldenstein. “Thomas was not only a great family man, but also very helpful. He has always supported his fellow human beings,” Mayor Alois Strondl is very concerned. To secure the future of the victim’s two sons (13 and 8 years old), Strondl has set up a donation account. “They now have to grow up without a father. and must in any case be financially secure.”

Comrades mourn ‘essential support’
The firefighters in Gmünd are also shocked by the death of their deputy administrator: “He was always ready to help in emergencies. With his competence, his humanity and his always friendly demeanor, he was an indispensable support”, commander Mattias Böhm praises the qualities of his comrade.
