Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday signed the law annexing four Ukrainian regions. The Annexation Act is now finally in force.
On Monday, the Russian State Duma endorsed the establishment, which was criticized as a violation of international law, in an emergency procedure, and the Federation Council followed suit on Tuesday. Both chambers of parliament voted unanimously to annex the four regions of southern and eastern Ukraine.
On Friday, President Putin signed the internationally unrecognized treaties on the accession of the four Ukrainian regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson with the occupiers deployed by Moscow, while celebrating extensively. However, the provinces are not completely in the hands of the Russian armed forces, making the demarcations envisaged by the Moscow government completely unclear.
