Lack of resources – hazard indicator! AKH-Primar sounds the alarm

Date:

The primary urologist of the AKH has been trying to point out abuses for six years. A threat message has now been made public.

The next danger report from a Viennese hospital was sent on Tuesday by the primary urologist of the AKH. And the content is explosive: for six (!) years, the University Clinic for Urology has regularly pointed out the persistent lack of resources and proposed solutions in writing and orally. To date, however, nothing has changed.

“Sequential Decay of Nursing Structures”
According to the danger report available to “Krone”, the collapse of the supply is mainly due to “the gradual deterioration of the nursing structures”. Since February, the department has faced bed reductions of up to 71 percent. And that has an impact.

As a result, the waiting time for surgery has increased significantly. In the case of non-threatening illnesses, this is a maximum of six months. And even adequate care for acute patients can no longer be guaranteed.

“The public must exert pressure”
Particularly bad: the doctors also have no choice but to send the patients to another hospital. For example, on September 30, the department wanted to prevent patients from being rescued because of the staff shortage. However, the Vienna Health Association has banned this because of “the current situation in all of Vienna”.

“Primary wrote hundreds of emails. For months nothing happened. Hazard statements are boxed. Now the public has to exert pressure,” says doctor and works councilor Frederic Tömböl.
