With their new album “The End, So Far”, the mask metal band Slipknot ends their decade-long partnership with the record company Roadrunner Records and takes them to new shores – musically too. We asked drummer Jay Weinberg why that is and what it feels like to go from fan to fellow musician. In the summer of 2023, Slipknot will play on Nova Rock.
„krone“: The “Maggots”, meaning your fans, have always been a driving force behind Slipknot’s success. Has the bond between you grown even stronger after the pandemic?
Jay Weinberg: I think so. We have all realized how fragile life is and the cohesion is even more intense. We are very lucky to be able to celebrate it all together again. We no longer take anything for granted and enjoy every moment. There is also a special surge of energy within the band.
