Two 19-year-olds from the Freistadt district drove a car through the municipality of Waldburg on Monday around 8.30 p.m. The passenger had several firecrackers in the footwell. Not far from the Böhmerwald trunk road B38, a cigarette is said to have fallen into the footwell, igniting the fuse of a firecracker.
Driver jumped out of the car
The driver was able to jump out of the vehicle at the last minute – immediately afterward, the fireworks exploded in the passenger’s footwell, causing the passenger to suffer unspecified injuries. The ambulance took those involved to hospital. The explosion caused massive material damage to the vehicle. The passenger is reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Linz.
