In the NATO state of Norway, a Russian with a drone and camera equipment has been arrested for the second time in a week. The 51-year-old was observed taking photos at an airport, police said in Tromso, northern Norway.
Among the seized material were photos of the airport in Kirkenes and of the Norwegian army’s Bell helicopters. The man confessed to using the drone.
Like other Western countries, Norway has imposed a no-fly zone on Russians in response to the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine. Violations are punishable by up to three years in prison.
Sightings near oil rigs
In Norway, drones have recently been repeatedly sighted on energy infrastructure, including offshore oil and gas platforms. These reports and the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea have prompted the country to increase security.
A Russian was arrested on Wednesday at the Norwegian border who had two drones and storage media with a number of photos and videos taken in Norway.
