Nearly 21 years after her disappearance, the body of the dead Peggy was buried in Bavaria. The girl disappeared after school and searches turned up nothing. To this day, a perpetrator has not been convicted.
On April 6, the body of the deceased Peggy from Lichtenberg was buried in Bavaria, lawyer Ramona Hoyer announced on Monday. “We wish peace and space to grieve,” said Peggy’s mother and her extended family.
Disappeared at age nine
The girl who is now buried disappeared after school in May 2001 at the age of nine. A large-scale search – including with Bundeswehr Tornados – was unsuccessful. The same goes for a number of other tracks that the police chased.
Body discovered after 15 years
It wasn’t until 15 years later that Peggy’s body was discovered in a forest on the border between Bavaria and Thuringia. A perpetrator has not yet been convicted. In 2004, a mentally retarded man from Lichtenberg was convicted as Peggy’s murderer, but ten years later he was released in a new trial.
